Gone are those days of waiting for a paper boy.The digital age has enabled everybody to be able to play a role of being an anchor of current events ,now its even much more easier to even publish any recent event which has taken place through social networks and  people get to share what is being posted and within a few minutes the story spreads and yet trends throughout .

Gini Dietrich explains that social media is a shift of how we attain information ,nomore constantly reading the newspaper from the front till back while drinking coffee in the morning .Now we get to attain information 24/7 from anywhere .Gini Dietrich  also states that social media enables us to network, it flattens the world and give us access to attain a wide range of things .Social Media is all about influencing people and get them aware and interested ,lately nobody wants to sit and read a pile of newspapers or books ,people prefer user-friendly media to access information at anytime

The fact is we still need journalists since they provide credible information with relevant sources and yes Lisa Buyer stated how social media has become the overall influencer but think about when journalism combines with social media to provide credible and easy accessible information how effective it will be for everyone. Journalism will forever remain important through out the digital age.

  3. I honestly feel that journalists will always be needed no matter how much social media may have an impact on society. Journalists play an important role in keeping news fresh and updated, as well as from a great human perspective. Great angle on the argument of whether journalists are still relevant or not. Good Post Indeed!!

  7. I actually disagree, Since everything is moving onto digital space journalists won't be needed anymore. Smartphones have provided a way for us to browse the internet and choose what we want to read and when. We are slowly moving away form the traditional method into the digital space.

  9. I think we still need journalist to help us make sense of the news. Sometimes Digital media can't be trusted and it limited but if we see the same news in Newspaper we can get in depth information. So I still believe that we need journalist. But journalist need to find a way of making Digital and Traditional media work together as one.

Indeed Nomfundo we still need journalists their role is vital when it comes to credibility unlike social media ,Shahrinaz Ismail also states how social media lacks authenticity due to its number of sources. Journalist are already on that pathway of working hand in hand with social media influencers and yet they also partaking on social networking ,within a few years to come digital media and traditional media will be working as one unit.

  11. Of cause we still need journalist. as much as the publics can be journalist, how much of truth will be actually find in them?
the sources that they may use may not be trust worthy, and it will loose all credibility.
